The Silent Preacher's Message resonates through the nearly 360 degree breathtaking panorama here on Hacker's Hill. The unrivaled aura of peace and tranquility is able to reach any soul. From this prominent auto accessible outlook on a clear day you are able to see an unobstructed vista from Mt. Washington, the tallest peak in New England, into the coastal area of Portland, Maine a distance East to West of 85 miles. Summer sunsets, the day's grand finales, fully enhance the outline of NHs' White Mountain range on the western horizon. Looking to the north the Appalachian Trail weaves its way over mountains named Old Speck, Baldpate and GooseEye in the Mahoosuc Range. These and many other granite giants all contribute their profiles to the making of the unforgettable sunset. Five miles to the south of Hacker's Hill is Big Sebago lake, second only in size to Moosehead, but first in popular tourist attractions in this lake region.

A Maine MiracleA Maine Miracle:  On Spetember 13, 1997, a lightning bolt created an inspiring cross from this once 70' pine tree.  The impact was felt 3/8 of a mile away, yet the small birdhouse was left unharmed.  One month later, a very high wind toppled the weakened tree top.  The remains were reconstructed to carr on a portion of this miracle.  May local people considered it a true sign from God, it also occurred one day before Catholics worldwide celebrate the Feast of the Cross.

The Cross of Jesus Christ represents the roots of the new Covenant God made made for the Redemption of the sins of  all mankind.  This Amazing Grace is available for anyone who will believe.  Ask God in a simple prayer to help you find your roots in the Grace of The Maine Miracle.  He will do it.

High Country Mission is privileged to be the voluntary caretakers of this Hill, continuing the vision of the late Hacker A Hall. We work under the auspices of the new owners Conrad and Jeff Hall, to keep this hill a place that everyone will sincerely appreciate.
